Sa Pa and Hoang Lien National Park

Bird fauna: Mountainous. 

Recorded bird species richness at Sa Pa and outlets is higher than at any other site in Vietnam, with c. 350 species being recorded to date, although this may, in part, reflect the high levels of historical and recent survey effort. Hoang Lien Mountain and Sa Pa area support some of the rarest species in Vietnam, such as Chestnut Thrush, Gould's Shortwing, White-browed Bush Robin, Blue-fronted Robin, Crested Finchbill, Buff-barred Warbler, White-throated Laughingthrush, Black-faced Laughingthrush, Red-faced Liocichla, Spot-breasted Scimitar Babbler, White-collared Yuhina, Ashy-throated Parrotbill, Yellow-bellied Flowerpecker, Black-headed Greenfinch, Dark-breasted Rosefinch, Scarlet Finch, and Brown Bullfinch.
